It was a mixed weekend for the Beechworth junior ranks, highlighted by a dominant win for the combined under 16s that propelled them into the top four just in time for the final round. Under 12s struggled to get going against a competitive Rovers United Bruck team at Bindall Avenue Reserve. Only Dristan Kopacz (12) was able to score above single figures as the team reached 6/86. Beechworth’s bowlers worked hard and were well supported by a strong fielding display, but just fell short. Under 14s started strongly against Rovers United Bruck at Mayday Hills, restricting them to 86 with Joe Pilkington taking three wickets and Oliver Nuck taking two wickets. George Pfahlert continued his strong form, retiring on 31 while most of the lineup made starts. As Beechworth passed their required total, an impressive 24 not out for Harry Langdon in his season debut was a standout. Under 15 girls fought strongly against a Rovers United Bruck side that is unbeaten this season, and fell short despite gallant efforts from Mary Edwards (32) and Krystal Fitzpatrick (24) with the bat. Combined Under 16s with Ovens Valley were too strong for Wangaratta Magpies, bowling them out for 75 and scoring 5/129 thanks to scores of 30 or more from Noah White, Taylor Thomson and Harris Bruneau. The win was well-timed, placing the team into fourth place prior to the final round of the season.
