TAKE a partner or round up friends and escape to the vineyards of Rutherglen this weekend when the annual Tastes of Rutherglen is held tomorrow and Sunday.

Rutherglen is the ideal destination to taste of some of the country’s most renowned wines and local foods over two epic days.

Take a masterclass and explore current and back vintages of award winning wines, sample varieties the region is famous for including Durif, Shiraz and Muscat and discover ideal food and wine pairings at each of the participating wineries.

Each year, the wineries partner with local food producers to create a perfectly matched tasting menu at unique to each venue, where there is also the opportunity meet the makers and learn about their wines, their vineyards and their process.

The event showcases over 200 wines from 19 wineries, the winemakers inviting visitors to their cellar doors for tastings along with entertainment and kids’ activities during the day, with the itinerary spilling into magical dinners in the evening.

Winemakers of Rutherglen have also partnered with TAC and Dysons to provide a regional bus service from neighbouring towns to conveniently transport festival-goers to and from Rutherglen during the weekend.

There is also a hop-on hop-off shuttle bus carrying guests around to the participating wineries so visitors won’t have to stress about transportation.
