AFTER weeks of preparation and net sessions, competitive cricket in the WDCA can finally get underway, with the first over set to be bowled tomorrow.

For Beechworth Wanderers' A and A reserve sides, it means two T20 matches back to back, set to be played in two match hubs across the area.

A grade matches will be played across the various turf and synthetic wickets in Wangaratta, with the Wanderers first up against Delatite at Wareena Park from 1pm, before heading over to the turf at the Bill O'Callaghan Oval to play City Colts at 4pm.

The A reserve squad will make the trip down to Benalla, Beechworth playing Delatite first and then Rutherglen – both matches will be played on the grass out at Friendlies Oval.

The C grade Wanderers are preparing for their first round match against Yarrawonga Mulwala, a one–dayer held at the club's second home ground at Mayday Hills in Beechworth.

The main turf wicket at Baarmutha Park is reserved for the Under 16s, with their first round match set to be played over two weekends against Rutherglen.

The under 14s are also set to play Rutherglen, taking to the field at Mayday Hills from 9am.

The WDCA plans to start the under 12s competition next weekend, with a draw set to be published before then.

With cricketing action taking place across the region this weekend, be sure to head out to a pitch and take in some spectacular country cricket – spectators are allowed, but must follow density limits an sign in to use clubrooms/facilities.

In other round one A grade matches City Colts will play Benalla and Wangaratta Magpies face Ovens Valley United.

In round two, Yarrawonga Mulwala will be searching for victory over Benalla and Wangaratta Magpies play Delatite.
