ON Sunday the Beechworth Golf Club had eight players for the third round of the Summer Cup on a very hot day and a very dry deck.
The players made use of the two tee off times due to the temperature.
The best scores seemed to come from the group who played in the hottest conditions.
There was one stand out score with Zane Howard finishing seven shots clear of his nearest rival with 40 points.
Runner up also playing in the afternoon was George Ward with 33 points on a countback from Rod Shaw.
There were no nearest the pins recorded.
On Thursday we had a great field of 22 players for twilight on the front nine.
The winner with a great score of 27 points (22+5) was the chef Rod Shaw.
Runner up taking home the Bridge Road Brewers voucher was Jackson Wells with 25 points (22+3).
Ball winners were Andy Croome 24, John Sheehan 23, Josh Carr 23, Dave Clark 22 and Jason West 22.
The Beechworth Bakery nearest the pin on the 5th went to John Costello.
Tony Stockdale chipped in on the 9th and took home the cash for the nearest chip.
John Purtell has played three rounds of twilight this season and has won the CC’s Quality Meats and Smokehouse voucher every time, so we are looking at suspending him from buying tickets.
Twilight golf continues as normal this week.
Thursday night hit off 4:30pm - 5pm.
Sunday golf is 11:30am arrival for 12 noon.
Event to be decided on the day.
We also have a handful of members participating in the North Eastern District Golf Association opening day at Wodonga, so good luck to them.
Let's hope for a break in the weather soon and some rain.
