Rutherglen A1 and Beechworth A3 teams go down in qualifying finals last week at Wangaratt

BEECHWORTH’S A3 bowlers will have their second chance in as many weeks to book a grand final spot after losing to Mansfield last week in the qualifying final.

Mansfield upset Beechworth 89-77 in Wangaratta to reach the grand final.

Both teams won two rinks each, but comprehensive victories from Mansfield in rinks one (22-13) and four (30-14) paved the way for victory.

Swanpool earned a crack at Beechworth in this week’s preliminary final back at Wangaratta, for a spot in the final after beating Tungamah 86-58.

Meanwhile Rutherglen’s A1 team will be in a similar position at Corowa this Saturday after going down to Corowa RSL 77-68 in last week's qualifying final.

They will be facing Wodonga in the preliminary final after their thrilling 78-75 win over Yarrawonga.
