NORTHERN Victoria MP Jaclyn Symes has pledged a $1.6 million investment in Beechworth Secondary College if Labor is re–elected in the forthcoming election being held later this month.

Ms Symes made the announcement last Friday joined by Labor candidate for Benambra, Mark Tait, on a visit to the school.

The investment would be to deliver the final stage of college upgrades if the Labor government is re–elected.

The commitment would support the final stage of scheduled college upgrades, and follows the $9.4m upgrade completed last year, when a new science and resource centre that consists of two laboratories, seminar rooms, staff spaces and common learning areas accommodating the library were installed.

Ms Symes opened the new facility in April 2021.

"It's great when you can deliver for a town where the community gets behind the school and this has always been something I want to finish" she said.

"This is a great community and an awesome school, and I want the kids to have the best."

Ms Symes said the state–of–the–art school is a genuine choice for families, with dedicated teachers and facilities to match.

The school now awaits further funding for the already designed building for stage three of its capital works project where hospitality, drama and music facilities will be housed.
