TO date, the Rutherglen community has raised $279,521.33 since they began fundraising for the Good Friday Appeal in 1983, while the Springhurst community has raised $25,875.02 since 2016.
These two small towns alone contributed $15,487.70 and $4630.78 respectively in 2021 and have fundraising initiatives planned for this year's appeal.
Rutherglen Rotary Club area manager, Bill Slattery, is looking forward to the town participating in a Good Friday raffle, door knocking and tin collecting.
Raffle tickets can be purchased from the Rutherglen Butchery from Thursday, March 31 until Good Friday.
The tin collecting will be conducted on Good Friday from 9am until 12pm at the intersection of Main Street and the Murray Valley Highway and a vintage firetruck will be on show.
Springhurst CFA Fire Brigade Social Club Inc manager, Robyn Tanner, is excited for the tin rattles and door knocking which will commence at 9am on Friday before the community dinner and raffle at the Springhurst hall in the evening.
The dinner will raise much needed funds for the hospital to help families in need.
Since 1931, the Good Friday Appeal has been dedicated to fundraising for The Royal Children's Hospital so that it can continue to provide world class care for children in Victoria and beyond.
Over its long and proud history, the Good Friday Appeal has provided over $399 million to The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne.
Funds raised support ground–breaking research, state of the art equipment and technology, education and family centred care programs so that The Royal Children's Hospital can continue to provide world class care to our children.
The Appeal will take place on Friday 15 April and donations can be made by calling 1300 APPEAL between 9am and midnight or online at goodfridayappeal.com.au.
