INDIGO U3A members are delighted to finally hold the lease on the old Beechworth Railway Station.

U3A president Rosemary Ryan said that the news came as a great relief as many hours had been spent on preparing a detailed Expression of Interest document for Indigo Shire Council.

According to treasurer Richard Maskiell, members regard the old building as the perfect home for University of the Third Age with its obvious connections to Beechworth History.

"There are five usable rooms including an activities area, rooms for small groups, the kitchen, and the office space," he said.

"Our lease is for at least 12 months and at last we can develop our own schedule."

This year U3A is planning to hold its enrolment day on Thursday, January 20 at the Beechworth Memorial Hall opening at 10am.

There will be short presentations and opportunities to talk to tutors and peers.

Coffee and tea will be available.

Please note that all in attendance must show proof of double vaccination.
