BEECHWORTH Football and Netball Club (BFNC) is excited to see what the 2021 season will bring following coronavirus impacted seasons.
The BFNC committee has worked quietly behind the scenes since COVID–19 took hold of the community, making football and netball games extremely challenging, and at times impossible to play.
Despite restrictions and lockdowns, the committee has consistently met every two weeks by Zoom to navigate what activities the club could and could not hold during the ever–changing restrictions.
BFNC president Adam Fendyk said he felt the club has a greater responsibility to the community, which extended well beyond the running of a football or netball match.
"Our club prides itself on being integrated within the community," he said.
"We are an extended family to many of our players, members and supporters and we love the buzz that netball and football games bring to the wider community."
"There is nothing better than the pre–game hype in a small region."
With the last couple of COVID–affected seasons, Mr Fendyk said it had been difficult at times to keep things going.
"We would just get a run on, only to be halted on the last leg and it was hard to keep the momentum among the player groups when even training was restricted, and at times non– existent."
Mr Fendyk said things were now looking more positive.
"We have new senior football coaches with Tommy Cartledge and Brayden Carey as well as new and old players returning to the game," he said.
"The netball coaching team is off to a strong start, with former A grade coach, Rachel Cavallin flipping the charts to coach the U11 team, and build expertise from the ground up."
"As a whole club we are in a really exciting place with the depth of experience in our coaching, and playing line ups are impressive".
The BFNC have put out a call to community members to put their hand up to help the Club move forward with many roles to be filled.
Mr Fendyk said the club is keen to hear from people with special skill sets in such areas as public relations, communications, social media, design, nutrition, hospitality, wellbeing, game day tasks, bar work or cleaning.
He said all help is valued and much needed.
"If you can donate an hour of your time, or 100 hours, we would love to hear from you," Mr Fendyk said.
The BFNC annual general meeting will be held at Baarmutha Park on Sunday, November 14 at 10.30am with the meeting to be held in person unless restrictions are in place where it will then take place via Zoom.
