ALMOST a third of eligible Indi residents had already cast their vote by Tuesday, according to data published by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC).

The data shows 38,772 Indi residents had cast a vote by May 17, making up 32.98 per cent of eligible Indi voters.

Of those voters, 19.5 percent cast their ballot by post.

This is greater than the national average – just over a quarter of eligible Australians had cast their vote early by Tuesday.

Previous elections have seen an increase in early voting – in 2019, 31.59 per cent of turnout was at early voting centres, up from 22 per cent in 2016.

Early voting in Wangaratta is available from 8am–6pm today at St. Patrick's Hall, 15–21 Ford Street.

Three voting centres will be open from 8am–6pm in Wangaratta tomorrow.

Voters can cast their ballot at St. Patrick's Hall, as well as Wangaratta High School, 17–49 Edwards Street, and Fr. James Byrne Memorial Hall at Our Lady's Primary School, 52–60 White Street.

Outside of Wangaratta, Indi residents can vote at Tarrawingee Community Hall, 1114 Great Alpine Rd, Tarrawingee; Glenrowan Primary School, 40 Beaconsfield Parade, Glenrowan; Moyhu Soldiers Memorial Hall, 24–26 Bartley Street, Moyhu; Milawa Public Hall, 181 Milawa–Bobinawarrah Road, Milawa; Whitfield Primary School, 6182 Mansfield–Whitfield Road, Whitfield; Eldorado Memorial Hall, 94 Main Street, Eldorado; and Springhurst Primary School, 121 Anzac Road, Springhurst.
