A 17-year-old New South Wales P-plater was caught more than 40km/h over the speed limit near Baranduda last Saturday.

Police said Wodonga Highway Patrol members detected a motorbike travelling northbound on Wodonga-Yackandandah Road at 126km/h in an 80km/h speed zone.

The 17-year-old rider from Albury was issued a $840 infringement notice and was immediately disqualified from driving in Victoria for six months.

The Albury P-plater was also issued a $198 fine for failing to display P-plates and was issued three demerit points.

“Don’t overlook the speed zones you are travelling in,” a police spokesperson said.
