LOCAL resident Bec Beatson was the first person to get tested at the drive through COVID–19 testing clinic opened by Beechworth Health Service (BHS) on Wednesday.
BHS COVID screen clinical lead Liz Ibrom said the clinic, which runs on Wednesdays from 9.30am to 3pm, gave the local community access to testing close to home without leaving town.
Ms Ibrom said times for the clinic's operation through the week would be extended depending on community demand.
Screening time to get tested can be shortened with pre–registration by phone to receive a unique registration number at https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/where–get–tested–covid–19 or through the Service Victoria app.
A spokesperson from Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) said the number of active cases in Indigo Shire had fallen to 11 as more cases had been cleared on Wednesday.
People should attend a testing site at the earliest signs of symptoms or if known to have been in contact with a person diagnosed with COVID–19 in recent days.
Entry to the COVID–19 screening clinic is via Bantik House located at 58 Sydney Rd which is well sign posted.
