Indigo Shire COVID case cleared

A COVID–19 case identified in Indigo Shire that followed testing last Saturday with the case transferred to a Melbourne hospital for additional testing has been cleared.

Following further extensive investigations the case has been confirmed as a false–positive by the Health Department's Expert Review panel.

Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) said it has been reassuring news for the individual, their family and the community.

Associated exposure sites in Alpine and Indigo shires including the Beechworth Service Station have been removed from the Victorian Government's COVID exposure site listing.

AWH's Public Health Unit has praised the individual and their family for their efforts in following public health directions in the process of keeping their community safe.

Australian Government Heath data published on Monday stated COVID–19 vaccination rates for Indigo Shire had reached 89 per cent for first doses with the second dose at 57.7 per cent.

The shire has one of the highest first dose vaccination rates across the state being in the top 10 of Local Government Areas (LGA's) as well in the lead for North East Victoria.

This report listed the percentage of people aged 15 and over who have been vaccinated against COVID–19 by LGA.
